Trigger Point Dry Needling

Trigger Point Dry Needling

Developed by Mark Seem, dry needling is a classical Chinese acupuncture approach to integrating acupuncture needling of myofascial pain and related disorders where release of tight knotted muscles, often called trigger points after the work of Dr. Janet Travell.

The twitching evoked in acute myofascial trigger point is the actual therapeutic mechanism, as the twitching stretches the tight contracted muscle fibers/ spasm within the soreness part of the invoked muscle.

Acupuncturists of dry needling insert a needle into the trigger point or knot or area of hypersensitivity spasm to evoke a local twitch response or release to relive pain.
